Senior Leaders Course - NCO Common Core Competencies (NCO-C3)

The Senior Leader Course NCO Common Core Competencies (SLC NCO-C3) prepares staff sergeants for duties as a sergeant first class. Using the be-know-do model, learners will collaborate and exchange ideas on innovative approaches to leadership and training. Learners will examine management techniques, analyze mission command systems, construct an analytical essay, and create platoon training and leader development plans. As a result, learners will gain an understanding of the significance of becoming a senior noncommissioned officer and the responsibilities inherent in that role.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE

All students are required to provide the following documentation :

1. Student in-processing Sheet Complete.

2. MOS Specific duration of orders. (TPU/MDAY)

3. DD Form 1610. (Active Duty/AGR)

4. DA Form 4187. (Active Duty)

5. Military Identification Card.

6. TR Pre- Execution Checklist.

7. Proof of SSD1/DLC1 completion.

8. Cardiovascular Screening Paperwork within the past five years. (Age 40+ Only)

9. Copy of Physical Profile. (DA Form 3349) (if applicable)

10. PT Card. (DA Form 705)

11. Body Fat Content Worksheet. (DA Form 5500/5501) (if applicable)

NCO ACADEMY STUDENT IMPORTANT NOTICES AND INFORMATION

BASIC LEADER COURSE OVERVIEW: The Basic Leader Course is a 22-academic-day, MOS immaterial course consisting of 169 academic hours. It prepares sergeants, promotable specialists/corporals, and non-promotable specialists/corporals to lead team/squad sized element; providing the foundation for further training and development; and building functional leadership attributes and competencies.

ENTERPRISE EMAIL: Unit ATRRS Operators must ensure that the Students enterprise email is correct in ATRRS. NO CIVILIAN email addresses are acceptable. Failure to do so will result in the student NOT receiving the welcome letter and support information.

WELCOME LETTER: The Academy S3 ATRRS NCO sends out the welcome letter with all applicable course information to all students in ATRRS 45 days prior to the start of each course. If you did not receive a welcome packet and are scheduled to attend the course, contact your ATRRS operator directly.

LODGING: All students will reside in the academy barracks at zero cost to the unit or Soldier.

REPORT UNIFORM: Report in the complete Army Physical Fitness Uniform (Hats and Gloves Optional). Have your Orders, Current Common Access Card, dog tags, and course specific required information and packing list items.

STANDARDS AND DISCIPLINE: Uniform and grooming standards are strictly enforced. It is the Soldier’s responsibility for ensuring wear and appearance reflects the highest level of professionalism. Soldiers who do not meet the Army wear and appearance standards will make necessary corrections or provide documentation of an approved exception to policy prior course in-processing. Soldiers who fail to make such corrections or produce documentation may be recommended for denied enrollment.

HEIGHT AND WEIGHT: Be prepared to conduct a weigh in and tape as required on the travel report day. Highly recommend watching what you eat and drink while traveling. Students that fail to meet this initial requirement will remain in the course and given a second screening for all that failed to meet the requirement seven days following the initial screening. Students that fail a second screening will be released from the course and sent back to their units.

ACFT: Be prepared to conduct the ACFT on day one of the course. Highly recommend reporting on the travel day as early as possible to allow for maximum time to prepare for the APFT.
